About Research Plus+
Research Plus+
Research Plus+ was established in 1993 to provide quality research and evaluation services. It has been operating as a full time business since 2000. The partners are Jenny Wilding and Mark Barton.
Research Plus+ is a member of the Federation of Small Businesses, the Norwich Business Club and other business networking groups.
Jenny Wilding

She started her career working for Worcestershire Social Services undertaking a study of social need in Kidderminster, under the supervision of Birmingham University. In the mid 1970s she was involved in feasibility studies for and the evaluation of community work and youth work projects for the Community Projects Foundation. She also assisted with the production of a series of Community Groups Handbooks.
She moved to Leicester to work in race equality, first for the Leicester Council for Community Relations and then the Leicester City Council Race Relations Unit. This involved research and other activities. She then moved to Norwich, where she worked first for the Norfolk Probation Service, where she conducted a number of research projects and set up monitoring and information systems. She then undertook nationally funded research projects at Norwich City College and the University of East Anglia School of Social Work. In the late 1990s, she worked for Healthy Norfolk 2000 managing a range of health promotion projects.
Major projects prior to setting up Research Plus+ include:
- A Department of Health funded project looking at families of children referred to Social Services due to concerns about emotional maltreatment or neglect.
- A sample survey of over 16,000 households in Leicester designed to measure its ethnic, linguistic and religious composition.
- A study of Asian parents' attitudes to mother tongue teaching in schools.
- A survey of Norfolk Probation staff.
- A study of Norfolk magistrate's views of the services provided by the Norfolk Probation Service.
- Worked with council departments to assist them in developing policies and procedures to promote anti-discriminatory practice in all their activities and carried out investigations into recruitment practice.
- Been responsible for the project management of health improvement initiatives across Norfolk, working in partnership with a wide variety of organisations including user and carer groups.
- Helped organise national conferences and other events and made presentations to a wide range of audiences.
- Supervised MA students' dissertations.
- Set up monitoring and information systems.
- Set up and developed specialist libraries / databanks.

Mark Barton

He has particular expertise in handling complex data using Excel, Access, SPSS, N-Vivo and MAXqda, and has trained people in the use of SPSS.
He is used to handling confidential and sensitive information and he assisted with the data input and analysis of four Department of Health funded research projects at the University of East Anglia.
He was an active member of his local area based community group. He played an important part in the survey of local residents, Planning for Real events, production of the area's newsletter and the development of the local Community Plan.
Since 2009 Mark has been exploring the use of social media for business use. He has given talks on the use of social media in business and has been asked to contribute as a guest blogger. Mark is an active contributor to the research and business community on Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. He is a member of the Social Services Research Group (and is currently the Membership Secretary of its national executive committee), and the Norfolk and Norwich Racial Equality Council. He is also a trained Shiatsu practitioner and runs a Shiatsu practice as well as working as part of Research Plus+.

Mags McPhee
Mags is principal of 4PEOPLE and has over 20 years' experience in people management and development. She is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel Development) and Member of the Institute for Learning. She facilitates, coaches and trains a variety of clients across a range of business and public sector organisations.
